Welcome to Jauri Resort

We are a small, family-owned retreat run by the Kanerva family. As a family, we have years of experience in hospitality in Lapland, and we live in Kemijärvi, which we are proud to call home. We bought Jauri Resort two years ago and have taken big steps to improve and develop the resort. We want to share the nature, culture, and way of life that mean so much to us, and to offer our guests the chance to experience the beauty and tranquility of our home region.

Surrounded by lakes, forests, and distant fells, Jauri Resort is a place to slow down. Every season brings something different—from the endless light of summer to the colours of autumn and the quiet beauty of winter.

We believe that the best experiences are simple: genuine hospitality, local traditions, good food, and time spent in nature.

Caring for this place is part of who we are. We work with local people and producers whenever possible, serve seasonal ingredients from nearby forests, lakes, and farms, and prepare our meals to order to reduce waste. We encourage our guests to explore responsibly and help us preserve the nature that makes this place so special.

Jauri Resort is proud to be part of the Sustainable Travel Finland programme and Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle. Our new hotel has also been developed with funding from the European Union, supporting sustainable tourism in the region.

Welcome to Lapland. We hope you’ll feel at home here.

Mikko Kanerva, CEO

Our Development

Jauri Resort continues to grow with respect for nature, our local community, and the traditions of Lapland.

Services

Jauri Resort began with the Jauri and Vuopaja chalets, together with our restaurant building and lakeside sauna. Soon after, we transformed the upper level of our restaurant building into the Horizon Apartment, creating a comfortable space where guests can relax and enjoy the surrounding nature. From the beginning, the lake has been at the heart of the resort and the experiences we offer.

Our vision has been to build on these foundations by developing more year-round activities — both our own and in collaboration with local partners.  Our aim is to also develop wellness experiences around the lake, and carefully refurbishing our existing accommodation with improving comfort and functionality.

Hotel Expansion

In 2025, we completed a new Suvanto hotel building, with 18 guest rooms and dedicated safari facilities. The 600 m² building was developed with support from the European Union, which contributed €666,000 towards the total investment of €2.3 million.

Arctic Lapland Cabins

As part of our long-term vision, we acquired Arctic Lapland Cabins, the neighbouring lakeside property in June 2026. This allows us to offer more accommodation while preserving the peaceful atmosphere and natural surroundings that define the area.

Year-Round Experiences

With support from the European Union Rural Development Fund, we have expanded our international reach and developed new experiences for every season. Together with local partners, we created nature, wellness, and cultural activities that reflect the authentic character of our region while welcoming guests throughout the year.

Resort Improvements

Support from the European Union and the LEADER programme has also helped us enhance our resort facilities. Recent improvements include a renovated wellness area, an outdoor terrace, an outdoor hot tub and sauna area, and a lakeside pier—creating more space for relaxation and connection with nature.

Sustainability

Sustainability is part of our everyday work.

Jauri Resort is proud to be part of the Sustainable Travel Finland programme and to hold the Biosphere certification. We work closely with local producers and service providers, use seasonal ingredients whenever possible, and make thoughtful choices to reduce our environmental impact. Above all, we aim to preserve the nature that makes this place special—for our guests today and for future generations.
